Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve was designated a national monument in 1925 to preserve the glacial environment and plant communities for public enjoyment and scientific study. It became a National Park in 1980, UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve in 1986 and in 1992 listed as a World Heritage Site. Glacier Bay is one of Alaska's treasures. Cruise along a shoreline that was completely covered by ice just 200 years ago and view twelve tidewater glaciers which are still active - remnants of the Little Ice Age that began about 4,000 years ago.

Operates May 15 - Sept. 6 from Juneau, Skagway, or Haines

Day 01: Transfer on own to Juneau / Skagway / Haines airport. Early scheduled flight to Gustavus. Transfer provided from Gustavus airport to lodge to meet the Spirit of Adventure for a cruise into Glacier Bay National Park . You will spend today cruising through Glacier Bay National Park. Lunch is included and National Park Rangers provide a highly informative program. After 8-hr cruise return to lodge. Evening's are free to explore the walking trails or visit the National Park interpretive displays and audio-visual presentations. Park naturalists lead interpretive walks on a rainforest trail. Day 02: In the morning at leisure at lodge. Park ranger programs are offered at the lodge. In the afternoon transfer from the lodge to Gustavus dock. From here enjoy a 4-hour whale watching cruise through Icy Strait (Depart at approximately 12:30 pm). Each summer Humpback whales from Mexico and Hawaii congregate in the nutrient rich waters off Point Adolphus providing visitors with one of Alaska's best whale viewing experiences. Upon return to Gustavus dock, transfer to Gustavus Airport to meet scheduled flight to Juneau/Skagway/Haines. Tour ends upon arrival at the airport.

Ferry transfer from Juneau to Gustavus and scheduled air from Gustavus to Juneau (or round trip air from Skagway or Haines). 2.5 -hour whale watching cruise, full day Glacier Bay National Park cruise, one night at Glacier Bay Lodge, transfers in Gustavus.
