Tour 334

The Aleutian Islands are a chain of rugged, volcanic islands curving 1,200 miles (1,900 km) west from the tip of the Alaska Peninsula. Volcanic peaks, hidden valleys, and pebbled beaches invite explorers to this partially submerged continuation of the Aleutian Range.  The islands separate the Bering Sea from the Pacific Ocean.  The Aleutian Islands' cultural history dates back at least 8,000 years and were strategically important during World War II.  Temperatures are relatively moderate with heavy rains and fog. The islands have a luxuriant growth of grasses, bushes, and sedges; however, mostly treeless.  This voyage with the Alaska Marine Highway System is truly for the adventurous of spirit.
