Explore Alaska's great interior by traveling from Anchorage to Denali and continuing northward to Fairbanks. A full day tour into Denali National Park to the remote Kantishna region offers the most complete Denali wildlife viewing experience possible. This classic rail journey through Alaska's heartland is one of the most scenic rail routes in the world.

Four Days/Four Nights Tour 159

Day 1: This morning enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Anchorage by trolley. Free time this afternoon to explore on your own. Optional tours in Anchorage. Overnight Anchorage.

Day 2: The railroad heads north through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley stopping in Wasilla and Talkeetna in route to Denali National Park. We suggest you take time to see the Denali National Park Visitor Access Center which offers many exhibits and information about the park. Your hotel will provide courtesy transfers to the center. Overnight Denali, near the park entrance.

Day 3: Denali National Park Tour to Kantishna*. This morning depart on a full day tour into the heart of Denali. Your expert guide interprets the wildlife of the park. Your journey takes you to the remote regions in the park including Wonder Lake and Kantishna. Lunch at Kantishna Roadhouse Lodge is included. This afternoon you will return through the park (or optional return to the park entrance by air, flightseeing by Mt. McKinley in route). Overnight Denali, near the park entrance.

Day 4: Free time this morning for optional activities such as river rafting or hiking. Later today, depart for Fairbanks via the Alaska Railroad. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 5: Depart Fairbanks on own.

Rail transportation from Anchorage to Denali and from Denali to Fairbanks. Guided sightseeing tour in Anchorage and Denali Park Kantishna Wilderness Tour (including lunch). Four nights hotel accommodation. All taxes.

*NOTE: the Kantishna tour does not begin operating until June 7, so for tour requests beginning May 14 - June 5 we will substitute the Tundra Wildlife Tour in Denali (see day 3 above).
