Alaska Railroad Adventure - NEW!
Designed for independent travelers and enthusiasts of journeys by rail, this tour utilizes the convenient daily schedule of the Alaska Railroad and well located hotels. Local experts and on board rail staff are your guides. This is a journey through Alaska's rich history and varied native cultures and lifestyles.  From the majestic waters of Prince William Sound to Alaska's great interior region, this tour moves at a relaxed pace and includes many major Alaskan highlights. In just seven days you will travel along the Alaska Railroad system, experience Alaska’s scenic glaciers and shoreline, view wildlife in Denali National Park, and discovery Alaska’s unique gold rush era history and cruise on a classic sternwheeler in Fairbanks.

Itinerary

Seven Days / Six Nights

Day 1:  Welcome to Anchorage. Transfer by hotel courtesy shuttle or on own. Overnight Anchorage.

Day 2:  Transfer to the rail station by hotel courtesy shuttle. Travel aboard the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Whittier, a scenic journey past Beluga Point and along Cook Inlet. The spectacular scenery is a highlight and represents all that Alaska is famous for. On arrival in Whittier, you will be met and transferred to the small boat harbor where you will embark on glacier cruise into Prince William Sound. Lunch is included on board the vessel. You will have great views and sounds of massive glaciers as they creak and groan dropping massive chunks of ice into the ocean.  Truly a fascinating sight. Return to Anchorage by rail in the evening.  Overnight Anchorage. 

Day 3:  This morning travel by rail north to Denali National Park. Views of Mt. McKinley and small Alaska towns in route.  The train offers reserved seating and a full service dining car for your convenience.  Arrival in Denali late afternoon and courtesy transfer is provided to your hotel.  At Denali there are many optional tours available including river rafting, hiking and exploring. Overnight at Denali.

Day 4:  Today's adventure includes traveling by bus into Denali National Park on an early morning or afternoon Tundra Wilderness Tour (please provide preference), snack lunch included. Overnight at Denali.

Day 5:  Free morning at Denali before departing in the afternoon travel by train to Fairbanks, evening arrival in Fairbanks with courtesy transfer to your hotel. Overnight Fairbanks.

Day 6:  This morning you will travel the Chena and Tanana Rivers for 3.5 hours on a classic sternwheeler riverboat. The river tour includes interpretation of the natural history of the area as well as an introduction into the Athabascan Native culture. This evening you depart Fairbanks for Anchorage via scheduled flight (55 minutes). On arrival in Anchorage transfer by hotel courtesy shuttle or on own to your hotel. Overnight Anchorage.

Day 7:  Anchorage – Departure
Free time in Anchorage for shopping, exploring on your own or optional excursions.  The hotel will provide courtesy transfer to the airport to meet departure schedules..

Six nights moderate (3 star) hotel accommodation, including taxes. Rail transportation from Anchorage to Whittier (round trip), Anchorage to Denali National Park, and Denali to Fairbanks. Scheduled air from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Prince William Sound Glacier cruise,  Denali National Park tour with snack lunch, sightseeing and sternwheeler riverboat cruise in Fairbanks
